Foundry projects, 2025
bronze and aluminum with patina
This was my first time trying foundry so I was mostly just getting used to the processes of it and for my final I wanted to make a project that went with past concepts of life and death and regrowth. We first made the figures with wax, then made the gating that would first be used to burn the wax out after we made out plaster molds then be used to pour the bronze and aluminum into. We then cleaned up the pieces and added a patina and a wax finish.

Completely
digital photography, crochet yarn, and wire, around 44in x 56in, 2024
This is a piece I made during my internship with Micheal Coppage. It is a piece about the important people in my life who have formed me into who I am now. The flower signifies my blooming into the person I am, and the vines represent the future people who will have an impact on me. With this project, I wanted to play with and combine new materials and see what I ended up with. The title comes from the song Completely by Jaehyun, which is about wanting to know everything about the person you are in a relationship with, my favorite lyric being "show me a map of your soul," this flowering being a map of my soul.

Untitled
router cut insulation foam, plaster, steel rods, and wire, around 10 in x 24 in x 36 in, 2024
This was the final piece for my sculpture class. For the project, we had to combine an element made by a machine and an element we made, so I found a 3d model of a sculpture on the internet, cut it in half, and had it cut into blue foam. I then assembled the pieces, put plaster on it to seal it, and added a metal branch I made bursting out of the chest to signify nature rebuilding around or through manmade things when there isn't human involvement.

Can it be Mended?
ceramic vases and chia seeds, 2024
This was a project for an interdisciplinary class, and I decided to do something that makes the viewer think about the question of whether the world and nature can be mended. I did a lot of research for this project about rewilding and thought about the idea of nature regrowth without human involvement, which seems to be a theme I keep coming back to.

Branch
steel rods and black and green spray paint, 2022
This was a wire frame project done in my first sculpture class. We were learning how to forge and weld metal. Mostly for this project, I was testing new material, and I found this artist and got inspired by her work. In this, I put three steel rods in the forge to heat them up so I could twist them together, then did nine separately to make the smaller branches. After I welded the separate branches to the ends of the twisted piece and three at the bottom so it could stand, then I spray-painted the center black and the ends green.
