Screen Printing

Ghost Tattoo

8 in x 11 in, ink on paper, 2022

For this project I didn't want to do anything too concept heavy so I did something that I was planning on getting tattooed and adding to it. I like ghosts and things like that so I thought it would be a good image to start with it being my first time screen printing. I used a liquid that would block the ink from going through the screen and printed it layer by layer starting with the yellow layer, then orange, grey, then the final black layer. This is one of five final prints.

Sweet Night

8 in x 11 in, ink on paper, 2022

This piece is inspired by the song Sweet Night by V. It was a song made for the Kdrama Itaewon Class and it is pretty much about thinking of all the missed opportunities of meeting someone and creating relationships and regretting it. I added the lyrics "how could I know one day I'd wake up feeling more, but I had already reached the shore, guess we were ships in the night" to push the concept further. For this project I used the photo emulsion technique. This is one of five final prints.

My Caricature

5 in x 7 in, ink on paper, 2022

For this project we were supposed to make caricatures of ourselves and trade them. In my other project I said that I like ghosts so I decided to make myself one. I added my Docs because they are my favorite shoes and I wear them everywhere. I also added flowers coming out of the shoes because I like flowers in my work and I added headphones because I'm constantly listening to music. I used the photo emulsion technique with this project and this is one of twenty prints.

Bug Box

8 in x 8 in x 11 in, ink on acrylic, 2022

For this project we were supposed to print on something other than paper. There isn't much of a concept for this piece. I just thought printing butterflies and moths on glass would be cool. I used acrylic instead of glass so the piece would be less likely to break and it wouldn't damage my screen while I was printing. I used photo emulsion to get the images on my screen then printed in two layers, the color layer then the black detailed layer. I then went over it with a clear sealant spray so it wouldn’t scratch off as easily.
